I'm Marina Alderete Gavito, your City Councilwoman for District 7, and I'm running for re-election to continue serving our community at City Hall. Born and raised in District 7, I'm a proud daughter of this community, shaped by the values of public service, integrity, and giving back.

  • Addressing our District's concerns of homelessness and loose & dangerous dogs through intentional policies to keep our community safe. 
  • Supported our firefighters securing a fair deal, ensuring they receive the compensation they deserve as the nation's top fire department.
  • Voted in favor of allocating $1.994 billion towards public safety, including 182 new police officers and 33 firefighters to improve response times

  • $12.2 Million was secured for repairing 143 streets and upgrades. 
  • $2.5 million was secured to fix street markings such as Babcock, Zarzamora, and Hillcrest.  
  • +2,000 potholes fixed in District 7 to create safer & smoother commutes. 
  • 18 new stop signs through neighborhoods to combat speeding, plus 16 signs upgraded to flashing stop signs. 
  • $2.3 Million dedicated to sidewalks in District 7, including 10 new sidewalks for neighbors who never had sidewalks before.

  • Proposed and implemented the Senior Assistance Program so seniors can get assisted in solving code violations instead of being penalized.
  • Regularly visit senior centers to check in on our District's seniors. 
  • Making our team available and accessible to you: 
    • 14 Utility Assistance Office Hours Sessions
    • 8 Coffee With the Councilwoman Events
    • 6 Districtwide Public Safety Town Halls and Public Input Meetings accessible to all residents.

  • Successfully secured a $3.25 million grant for upgrades at Woodlawn Lake Park. 
    • This is the largest federal grant awarded to a single park in San Antonio’s history and will be matched for a total of $6.5 million for improvements. 
  • Invested $1.7 million for O.P. Schnabel Park for: 
    • new restrooms, 
    • a bicycle skills course, 
    • a new trailhead 
    • plus a new perimeter path
  • Added shade structures at O.P. Schnabel and Jane Dubel.
